Introduction. Language learning has undergone significant transformation due to globalization and technological advancement. Traditional classroom-based learning has long been the dominant method, but digital platforms have introduced online education as an alternative.

Online learning allows students to access materials anytime and anywhere, making it flexible. Offline learning emphasizes direct interaction, creating a structured environment. The purpose of this study is to compare online and offline learning in terms of effectiveness, advantages, and impact on language skills, reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Methods. This study adopts a qualitative research approach based on a comprehensive review of existing literature. The data were collected from various reliable academic sources, including journal articles, books, conference papers, and educational reports related to language learning. The study focuses on learning environment, interaction, autonomy, flexibility, and skill development. Results. The analysis of the literature reveals several important findings regarding the effectiveness of online and offline language learning. Online learning offers several key advantages: -Flexibility: Learners can study anytime and anywhere. -Accessibility: Education becomes available to people in remote areas. -Variety of Resources: Multimedia tools (videos, podcasts, apps) enhance learning. -Self-paced Learning: Students can control their learning speed. However, there are some limitations and problems of online learning: -Limited Interaction: Reduced face-to-face communication affects speaking skills. -Delayed Feedback: Teachers may not provide immediate responses. -Technical Issues: Internet access and digital literacy can be barriers. -Motivation Problems: Learners may feel isolated or less engaged. Offline (traditional) learning also demonstrates strong advantages: -Direct Interaction: Face-to-face communication improves speaking and listening skills. -Immediate Feedback: Teachers can correct mistakes instantly. -Structured Environment: Classrooms promote discipline and consistency. -Higher Engagement: Social interaction increases motivation. Despite these strengths, offline learning has certain drawbacks: -Limited Flexibility: Fixed schedules may not suit all learners. -Accessibility Issues: Not all students can attend physical classes.

-Time and Cost: Travel and location constraints can be problematic. Comparative Findings The results show that: -Online learning is more effective for reading and listening than speaking. -Offline learning is more effective for speaking and interaction -Feedback is faster in offline settings, but more varied in online environments. -Motivation and improvements depend on both teaching methods and learning environment. Discussion. The findings of this study highlight that neither online nor offline learning is universally superior. Instead, each mode serves different educational purposes and learner needs. Online learning represents a modern approach that aligns with the demands of the digital age. It promotes learner autonomy, independence, and access to global resources. However, its effectiveness largely depends on the learner’s self-discipline and access to technology. Offline learning, on the other hand, remains essential for developing communicative competence. Human interaction plays a crucial role in language acquisition, especially in speaking and listening skills. The presence of a teacher and peers creates a supportive learning environment that enhances engagement and confidence. The discussion also emphasizes the importance of feedback in language learning. Immediate feedback in offline classrooms helps learners correct errors quickly, while online platforms provide diverse forms of feedback, including automated responses and peer reviews. Blended Learning as a Solution Based on the analysis, a blended learning approach is considered the most effective strategy. This method combines: -the flexibility of online learning, -the interaction of offline learning. Blended learning allows educators to design more balanced and effective lessons. For example, online tools can be used for grammar practice and listening exercises. In addition to this, classroom time can focus on speaking activities and discussions. This integration enhances overall language proficiency and addresses the limitations of each mode. Conclusion/ Both online and offline language learning play vital roles in modern education. Online learning provides flexibility, accessibility, and diverse learning resources, while offline learning ensures strong interaction, immediate feedback, and structured learning environments.

The study demonstrates that each mode has its own strengths and weaknesses, and their effectiveness depends on how they are applied. Rather than choosing one over the other, educators should focus on combining both approaches to maximize learning outcomes. The future of language education lies in adopting a blended learning model that integrates technology with traditional teaching methods. Such an approach not only improves language skills but also prepares learners for the demands of a rapidly changing world.
